Welcome to the Events page. We do lots of Club social events, as well as outreach, private star parties, and our regular Sabino Canyon Star Parties. Here is a link to our Calendar, so you can stay up-to-date with what we’re doing. Scroll down to find out more!
We host star parties for Astronomy Club members, for schools, and for any other public or private event. For more information or to begin planning a star party for your school or event, click the link to the right or visit our star parties page.
Every third Friday of the month we hold a sci-fi movie night. Some are bad sci-fi movie nights, and some are classic sci-fi movie nights. For instance, we have watched both Sharktopus and the Wrath of Khan.
Every now and then we will schedule a club game night, to which we will bring the Astronomy Club’s game repertoire, including the Big Bang Theory Trivia board game (Thanks Lindsay for your awesome Christmas present!), Star Trek Scene It and other less nerdy games like Yahtzee and Taboo. Attendees are welcome to bring their own games as well!
I know, I know, astronomers aren’t supposed to do anything except sit in front of a telescope or a computer! But we do have our human streaks every now and then, and we like to get out and play some sports! This semester we will be holding Ultimate Frisbee Outings (UFOs) as well as hikes around Tucson, and possibly other sports like volleyball. Stay posted!
Please visit our outreach page, where you can find more information about the many outreach related events we participate in!
